June Molloy, a Wexford author currently living in her husband’s home country of Lithuania has written a new book entitled Guardian of Giria which was launched in the Book Centre, Wexford last Saturday with a reading and afternoon tea.
June took voluntary redundancy from her job in Eircom in 2013 and moved with her husband Arunas Vladicka to Lithuania where they live deep in the countryside.
Since then, she has written two books, one on Lithuanian food and cooking and the latest, a novel for older children, inspired by the wildlife of Lithuania.
Guardian of Giria is a forest animal fantasy that as well as being an exciting adventure, aims to teach readers facts about European wild animals. It was published on May 8 and the official launch was held in Wexford.
June has been in contact with County Wexford libraries and a number of local schools which have shown an interest in acquiring copies of the book. She has prepared a number of resources to use in reading groups which can be found online at guardianofgiria.com/resources.
